Most students are taught techniques before they are shown how those techniques connect.
Traditional Jiu-Jitsu training often gives students isolated moves, random drills, and no clear roadmap. They are expected to decide which techniques fit their style, organize those techniques into a complete game, and develop their own strategy through years of trial and error. The problem is not that Jiu-Jitsu is too difficult. The problem is that the information is often delivered without a system that shows students how everything fits together.

Most Jiu-Jitsu students are taught disconnected techniques and expected to organize the complexity on their own. The result is confusion, plateaus, and years of trial and error.

The Master Plan is not a collection of moves — it is a purpose-built learning machine. Every class, position, and concept is designed to produce specific results, removing guesswork and accelerating skill development.

The Master Plan isn't a collection of techniques. It is a purpose-built learning system designed to organize complexity, accelerate progress, and produce predictable results for every student.
Traditional curriculums often leave students to organize hundreds of techniques on their own. The Master Plan reverses that process. The system organizes the information first, allowing students to focus on understanding, training, and applying what they learn with confidence.
For decades, jiu-jitsu has largely been taught as an ever-expanding collection of techniques to memorize. The Master Plan: From Chaos to Clarity in Jiu-Jitsu takes a fundamentally different approach.
Rather than presenting isolated moves, the book provides a complete framework for understanding how the art works. Built upon JVOS, the Javier Vazquez Operating System, it organizes jiu-jitsu into a connected system of principles, positional relationships, behavior generation, fatigue generation, and strategic decision-making.

Instead of asking:
“What technique should I do next?”
The Master Plan teaches students to ask:
“What behavior am I trying to create?”
When practitioners understand how to create the conditions that produce predictable behaviors, techniques become natural expressions of control rather than disconnected movements that must be memorized.
The result is a system that transforms complexity into clarity, helping students learn faster, retain more, make better decisions, and solve problems with greater confidence on the mat.
Whether you are a white belt searching for direction or an experienced black belt pursuing deeper understanding, The Master Plan provides a blueprint that changes not only what you do, but how you think.
MOVES DO NOT CREATE CONTROL.
CONTROL CREATES MOVES.

The Master Plan is built on three interconnected systems. Each serves a unique purpose, but together they create a complete framework for learning, understanding, and applying Jiu-Jitsu with confidence.

Before techniques, before positions, before strategy — there must be clarity.
JVOS is the mental operating system behind The Master Plan. It teaches students to remain present, recognize what is happening, and make intentional decisions instead of reacting with panic, frustration, or wasted effort.
By developing clarity, awareness, and control under pressure, students learn to simplify complex situations into manageable steps. This mindset becomes the foundation for every position, transition, and strategy taught throughout The Master Plan.

The Master Plan is not a collection of disconnected techniques. It is a purpose-built learning system that organizes, connects, and sequences Jiu-Jitsu into a clear and repeatable process.
Every class, drill, and positional chapter is designed with an outcome in mind. Instead of leaving students to build a complete game through years of trial and error, the system gives them structure, direction, and a path they can trust.
Nothing is random. Every part of the system has a purpose.

Mindset, structure, and strategy work together to turn information into clear, repeatable skill.
The Master Plan Machine does not simply deliver more techniques. It organizes, connects, and sequences the information so students understand how each position, decision, and transition fits into the larger system.

The result is a student who does not simply memorize techniques, but understands how to think, adapt, and move forward under pressure.
See How It WorksEvery position in Jiu-Jitsu presents multiple possible actions. The Central Path removes the guesswork by identifying the highest-probability sequence for reaching a clear goal: control, transition, or finish.
Each positional perspective has its own Central Path. Students learn what to do first, what comes next, and how each decision connects to the larger system. When something breaks down, they can identify where they left the path, make the correction, and continue moving forward.
No guessing. No disconnected moves. No unnecessary dead ends.
This strategic clarity allows students to remain composed under pressure and maintain control even in unpredictable situations.

Javier Vazquez has dedicated more than three decades to studying, competing in, and teaching martial arts at the highest levels. A UFC veteran, ADCC Trials Champion, King of the Cage World Champion, and 5th-Degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt, his career has been driven not only by competition, but by a relentless pursuit of understanding.
Throughout that journey, Javier recognized a problem shared by nearly every academy: students were taught countless techniques, yet few were taught how to think about jiu-jitsu.
That realization led to the creation of The Master Plan: From Chaos to Clarity in Jiu-Jitsu—a comprehensive framework designed to organize the art around principles, behavior generation, and decision-making rather than memorization.
Built upon JVOS (the Javier Vazquez Operating System), The Master Plan shifts the focus away from memorizing techniques and toward understanding behavior. Rather than chasing moves, students learn to create the conditions that make the right move inevitable. Instead of asking, “What move comes next?” they learn to ask, “What behavior am I creating?”
By understanding how to influence an opponent’s decisions, practitioners learn to generate predictable reactions, solve problems with greater clarity, and apply techniques as natural expressions of control rather than isolated acts of memorization.
The result is a system that transforms complexity into clarity, accelerates learning, improves retention, and helps practitioners of every experience level develop a deeper understanding of the art.
Today, Javier continues to teach through JV Jiu-Jitsu Academy, JV Jiu-Jitsu Online, and his book, The Master Plan: From Chaos to Clarity in Jiu-Jitsu, helping students around the world replace memorization with understanding, create behavior instead of chasing techniques, and bring order to the complexity of jiu-jitsu.
Because moves don’t create control. Control creates moves.
